Well done Andy.....Rest In Peace Brother
We need people like him in the FDNY Today !!!
Otherwise known as "God" to some on the FDNY. Allegedly...
Narration sounds like Max Headroom.
You folks viewed an actual “ Flashover “. Gases igniting. Outstanding example.
Thanks a lot for posting this.
He keeps disappearing…how does he do that?

The Godfather of Rescue Companies
How do I purchase these DVD’s?
audio is all messed up
Very nice. Thanks
Congratulations, Brother!!!
Where can I obtain a full length version of this video?
Ray Downey was killed in 9/11. I watched a documentary about the Rescue units the FDNY and in the documentary the South Tower had collapsed and some off duty Rescue firefighters approached him and said Chief is there anything we can do. He responded" Right now I think we have about 200 firefighters missing. He told the off duty firefighters to wait on a corner away from the North Tower and stay put he will come back to them. He the walked off into the cloud and never came back. He went back into the North Tower with a couple other chiefs and refused to leave until all his men were out. He died a brave honorable man.
God bless Andy
male coupling protected from what? please answer. thanks
Good info to know. I just passed the agility test for cobb I'm now waiting for my recruit school call. So for now I'm soaking up all info ahead of time.

How to get these dvd ????
That is true when me and the volunteer fire department in on when we get on scene I immediately do my 360 check and size up the scene I never for get to do any of that I want to know what's going on and what's happening around me while keeping communication going with my brothers and sisters
You said and showed Nothing that would teach someone the Work Ethic they need or how to apply themselves to "Eliminate the Threat as Fast and Safe as possible while using the Least amount of water." 6,400 people Waiting for you to teach them something and this is what you come up with?
I can tell he from New York
Great video guys!
nice
Hello, My name is Mike Farrell, I am a producer with ESPN. We are producing a vignette about DC Downey and the way he was honored by Mark Messier during the Rangers first game back after 9/11. I was wondering if we could receive permission to use some footage from Ray's instructional videos in our project? My email is mike.farrell@espn.com if you would like to discuss further. Thank you.
"Attack the fire, not the smoke"? Apparently, this instructor hasn't gotten memo about smoke being fuel. Cooling smoke as you advance a line will lower your chances of flashier, a lot. SLICE--RS works.
old school fire attack. he didn't know better lol
Oof, that poor wagon.
Straight Streams at close range take Way too long to eliminate the flames by soaking the Burning Material. The nozzle is adjustable for a reason!
It's interesting that I can't find ONE video that Proves that Vertical Venting works! All I see are videos that show how to cut a hole in the roof. Notice how little water was being applied!
The clip at 2:14 looked very much like the collapse in Flatbush Brooklyn that occurred a few years ago.
Ray Downey! one of the most celebrated officer in FDNY...we salute soon i will honour you by renaming our company with your name!
مرحبا
nice vid... but to be completely honest... as a Austrian that uses quite a lot of firehoses on a regular basis... I love the hoses we have over here in Austria and Germany... the ones with the Storz coupling system... so both ends are actually the same and we don't need to have a eye on male and female ends as they are the same style... saves a lot of time when working with them and even makes it possible, quickly connect and disconnect hoses without thread issues... as there are no threads... just a 120° turn and you have them connected or in the other way around disconnected as said... love the Storz system over here ;-)
I don't see why these videos don't have more views they are very informative and helpful
I don't have this one either lol
Hey Chief. I don't have this one. :-)
Agreed, Chief! Being a fire fighter is second to no other job in the world..
it got cut short...
Half the video was useless glitz and glimmer. The presents of modern and faster burning materials reinforces my belief that you get water on the burning material first and foremost. Before any other actions including search. Cool the area and soak the burning material or the Toxic Smoke And Heat Producer.
Awesome video. Thank you.
cool
I like that. ''This is your responsibility!"
Don't really agree with proping the door open, door control is important to minimize the oxygen flow to the fire.
Good resource. Thank you for posting.
